Northwest YMCA

The Northwest YMCA, when constructed, was the largest square foot YMCA of the Great Wichita YMCA branches. The Northwest YMCA has a climbing tower, family center, cardio and strength workout areas, program studios, gyms, pools, an outdoor water park, indoor track, and locker rooms. This branch was so well attended and grew membership that less than eighteen months after initial construction, an addition was completed.

Dean E. Norris completed the heating and air conditioning system for the Northwest YMCA. PVC coated, paint lock, stainless steel, and aluminum ductwork were all installed throughout the building depending on application and use. The pool pack air handling unit was set along with the other building’s air handling units. Hydronic piping system was installed to include boilers and chillers to heat and cool the building. Louvers, registers, and exhaust fans were also mounted throughout the facility.
